| Chanting
mantras is both a gift and an invitation. As we sing these sacred
sounds, we give thanks, while at the same time, opening to God
- the Divine.
On a metaphysical level, when
we sing, the heart opens. This explains why all religions and traditions
use the power of song and chant in their rituals.
And no matter the stress and
pressure of daily life, when the heart opens, the pressure and
stress are relieved, and consequently we feel relaxed and at peace
with ourselves. A respite from the activity of the chattering
mind. It is that simple – when the mind is at peace, we are
at peace.
Mantras also have a foundation
in science. Certain sounds create certain responses in the body,
and mantras have been scientifically demonstrated to instill a
sense of well-being. They are also shown to be a vibrant force
for healing.
Singing mantras vibrates the
cells in our bodies, charging them with energy and promoting physical
healing.
Miten and I chant in Sanskrit – the
language of ancient India, and widely regarded as the mother of
many modern languages. In Sanskrit, “man” means mind
and “tra” means “to free from”; hence, “mantra” is
literally a tool to free the mind.
We invite you to explore the
gift of mantra, and discover for yourself the sense of health and
well-being that they will bring to your life.
With love and blessings,
Deva
